I have a blue acara, firemouth, keyholes, and angels; flake doesn't seem to be enough for these sized fish. I bought Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets but I'm looking for suggestions for a slow-sinking cichlid food. The acara tends to get all the floating pellets, and my firemouth rarely goes beyond the middle of the tank to eat.

Thanks

Hi Thresea M, Tetra Colour Bits, Granuals is OK for cichlids, alternate betwen foods and occassional algea wafer will help balance their diet.We use Tetra Colour Bits to grow out our cichlids from our breeding facility.Good luck. Muss

the best all-around slow sinking pellets you should go with is new life spectrum pellets. they come in all different sizes. your better lfs should carry it. you wont find it at the big box stores.

I'm a big fan of NLS but I'm not sure they could be termed "slow-sinking" - they speed traight down to the bottom most of the time. I can make them stay up a bit longer by dropping them from only an inch above the surface but within a few seconds they're doing rock impressions.
