I'm really drawn towards a cichlid that I saw in a display tank. Although I can't have him right now I want to identify him so I can add him to my "fish wish list." He was in a tank with other malawi cichlids. I doubt that he was fully grown, but he is currently about 4" long. His body is cream colored with brown spots. His fins are brown with orange or reddish trim. Does anyone know the common or scientific name for this cichlid?

Was it patchy brown spots? If so it could be a o.b. peacock.

I think it may have been a Nimbochromis livingstonii The only visible difference is that the one I saw had an orange or reddish edging on his fins and this species appears to have a white edging. Still, it is the closest I've found.

It could be a venutus which is from the same genius as the livingstonii but has slighty different colouration as they mature
