It is called a kenyii cichlid (i am sure i mispelled the name, but it is similer to that). Is there another name for this cichlid, what is the common name or other info for this fish? I looked on the profiles and had no luck finding it. Any info would really help. Thank you very much. john |

They are an mbuna from Lake Malawi, smallish but very aggressive. They are best suited to a tank of at least 40 gallons for a species tank, larger if they are to be kept with other mbuna. They need lots of rocks and caves, a high ph and hard water. They should be kept in a ratio of one male to at least 3 females, the more females the better. Finally, they are herbivorous and require a diet of mostly vegetable matter, with some higher-protein food thrown in occassionally. HTH! That's what mine did and he's vibrant - but does run the tank. As stated, they are also HUGE diggers. Mine completely rearranged the tank - one pebble at a time. Just Beginning is right on the money about Cichlids which helped me get started a while ago. Good luck. |
