Both a green terror and a jewel would go with the convicts as long as they are a similar size. Do you know if they are a mating pair?

Two fish that go well with my convict are a salvinis cichlid and a spiny cichlid.

Just beware that convicts are extremely protective of their fry.

in the past when ive had convicts they become very territorial(sp?) over their caves and tunnels. or whatever they hang out in during their leisure time.

I'd say no if you fish killed a 5 inch oscar my guess is that it will kill off everything you put in there.

I find these fish are best off to keep alone, as with how protective they get.

Sorry to say,

I have been wanting to get something new for my 55 to hang with my convicts but I just haven't wanted to risk it. Besides most of the fish I want to put in there get too long for my 55

I have kept Jack Dempseys of similar size in with my convicts. However, I do not have them in with a breeding pair.

It's not some must that a JD couldn't hold his own with a Con but it wouldn't be a long term situation for them to stay in a 55 Gal.
