has n.e 1 had good luck with breeding and/or keeping these cichlids. if anything, i would probably want a pair of these guys. i was looking on a site and they said that the pink form of the covicts are more aggressive, but aren't they hybreds.

Convicts? What can I say? They are typically very easy to keep, very, very easy to breed (they are allegedly the easiest of all fish to breed), and they have a lot of personality. The pink convicts aren't hybrids, they are just a man-made color variation of the normal convict. Sort of like albino Corydoras aeneus, you know?

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

They are good fish, just be careful when you get a pair because it is very, very hard to get anything else in the tank. they get very aggressive when breeding and take over the whole tank and will attack and probably kill the fish in your tank, even if they are 3 times the convicts size. but they are interesting.

What will you do with the fry once they start to breed, I am not to sure what books read but pink convicts come from regular convicts, mine will have a fifty or so fry and usually there are a few of them that will be pink, I let the fry grow for a few weeks before they become food for the other tanks, as for them being aggresive it all depends on the personality of each fish

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

Convicts will pair up automatically in general, just put one boy and one girl in, give it a few weeks and bingo!
