im looking for something to keep with my convicts and oscar in a 55 gallon tank....bueanos areas tetras are out....

I'd put nothing else in there. The cichlids you have will claim all of the tank for their territories, and leave no room for other fish. They will also produce tons of waste, leaving your filter struggling to catch up. Extra fish won't help you at all there. Lastly, those oscars will eventually outgrow the tank anyways. Oscars reach fourteen or fifteen inches and are very messy, just one adult oscar needs at least a seventy-five gallon tank. I don't want to drown you in bad news, but those fish aren't going to be good together in there for long.

Also if you happen to have a breeding pair if convicts, they usually become very aggressive and territorial during breeding and will think nothing of even attacking that oscar.
