I think the minimum tank size for these fish is a 40-55 gallon. They get on the larger side for a cichlid. In a 20 gallon you want to stay with something that stays small. Like key holes, rams, kribs, or shell dweellers to name a few. |

It would stunt and die after probably less than a year. Those fish would be much happier in a 55 gallon tank. |

If you want more than one you're gonning to need a tank of at last 150g. |

Ppl keep oscars in 55 gallons all the time and they get bigger than the texas. It may be the only fish you could have in there, but i dont think thats too small of a tank for one. |
