yes that would be possible but make sure its definantly male and female... even then the male may kill the female.

No. I full grown JD can reach up to 12 inches and would require a tank no smaller than 75 to 100 gallons.

a dempsey doesn't require a 75g i'd personally go no smaller than a 55g, but i do know someone who actually kept a full grown male JD in a 29 till it died of old age

I am more in agreement with Cichlid Keeper. a 10-12" fish really should have a 75 gallon tank. that gives the fish plenty of room to move around and won't get cramped.

as for the full grown male dempsey in 29 dying of old age...I still have my doubts as to wether it was full grown and wether it died of old age.

it lived ~9years, and was 11", talk to PoisonWaffle bout it, his fish, he'd know more bout it than I, my JD seems perfectally happy in her 55
