What are some kinds of dwarf cichlids for a 10 gal tank?

Shellies!!!

The Lake Tang shelldwellers like the multi or brevis would be fine in a ten.

Some people will argue that a pair of rams can be kept in a ten.

But I vote shellies. Check out the Lake Tang forums for some set up ideas.

Thanks, would these be available at Petsmart, and how difficult are they to keep?

The shellies will be a little harder to find...rams aren't too uncommon.

I don't shop at chains though, so I wouldn't know. >.<

They aren't hard to keep as long as you have the proper set up.

Ok, thanks. I read the shelldweller section and they seem very cool. I think I'll get them if I can find multis or brevis anywhere, along with shells.

Petsmart had neither shell dwellers nor blue rams. The only other small cichlid they had was an Auratus. Would a pair of them be alright in a 10 gal?

Otherwise, I'm just going to get neons and cories.

Actually, never mind the Auratus.

There's no other pet store around? Small little petstores often take special order for fish if you ask them.
