I picked up a bag of this for my new shellie set-up, and I'm just wondering if anyone with shellie experience has seen whether or not it's OK for them to dig in. The grains look pretty fine, but I don't want it to damage the little guys. Thanks! |

I hope you did not spend too much money because you can just buy sand from a hardware store for $1.50 for a 50 lbs bag. |

I was going to go with tahitian moon sand, but then i went for the EC because of the mixed in crushed coral to buffer. And if it's still not dark enough for me, I can always mix in more tahitian moon sand or another kind of black sand. Just seemed more versitile. |

I know all shellies dig, but I don't think brevis are crazy diggers, at least from what I've read. The reason I had concern is because they're pretty small, so i wasn't sure if the EC sand would be too big for them. |

And they won't be particularly small for long - other than the "minuta" variety, brevis usually pass 2". Some brevis, usually females, will put in the work to bury a shell, but most won't. However, they'll still do some general rearranging. ![]() -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |
