	fish ID
Tucker Hobbyist Posts: 113 Kudos: 11 Votes: 0 Registered: 13-Nov-2001	anybody know what kind of cichlid this is? he is pretty intelligent and reacts alot to the people around him at my LFS... haven't been ablr to find a pic anywhere of a fish like him... Jason_R_S Moderator Posts: 2811 Kudos: 2421 Votes: 391 Registered: 18-Apr-2001	that's a cichlid from Madagascar...the name is Paratilapia polleni 'large spot'. the fish used to be called Paratilapia bleekeri and the ones with smaller spots were Paratilapia polleni, but it was determined that these 2 fish were the same species. Now you have P. polleni 'small spot' and P. polleni 'large spot'. I am pretty sure yours is the large spot. A google search on the scientific name should give you lots of information . Jason
