I have always heard good things about Hikari, HBH, and New Life Spectrum brand foods. I have recently begun using foods I got from www.kensfish.com but I don't know if they ship outside of the states. I have also used Tetramin cichlid sticks and Jumbomin food sticks, but the latter is rather messy. Throw in the occasional live worm, cricket, crayfish, and even fish (if properly treated for diseases or you breed them yourself) as well as some frozen and/or freeze dried krill, bloodworms, brine shrimp, beefheart (frozen only of course) and any other type of shrimp and your oscar should show excellent colors. this is also assuming you practice routine water changes and have excellent filtration.

Hmmm, some foods i have used;

Krill
Very high in protein, which means rapid grow, and lots of poop.

Feeders
Has some protein, oscars cant use all the proteins and amino acids though, and carry diseases and such, keep these guys to a minimal

Pellets
I like to use ones that have at least 35% protein. I use a brand exported from china, so you cant really get it here. I also use Hikari Staple (green bag) and also Hikari Gold / Color Enhancers

Flakes
Dont bother with these

Frogs
Depending if your store has these, they are better than feeding fish and less messy. A LFS has them for $1.99 each and they are about the size of one or two quarters

Worms
I would use either blood worms or earth worms. Make sure they are clean

Fish
Silversides are good, and I also use salmon in the past

Frozen Foods
These come in cubes and are great : moesquito larvage, brine shrimp, tubifex worms.

You can always throw in extra fry too.
