what is the right tank size for a male small male. around 125 Gallons?
also what is the price i should expect for a young one. at petco i have seen ones for 26 as young.

o and do they need special water condition.

It really depends where your location is, and what type of frontosa you want.

Let me first note that if you buy a juvenile, chances are you wouldnt know if it's a male or female.

Burundi (common-probably the ones at petc*) are usually about $10-20 a juvenile and $20-40 premature, and $40+ for an adult/mature specimen.

The only thing about the water is they need a high pH, 7.5+. Its also not reccomended to keep a frontosa by itself, it'll stress them out greatly as they are used to be in large colonies.

Frontosas are best kept in colonies as inko said. A good group size in my opinion is around 5+.

So i'll say nothing smaller than a 125g/ 6ft tank for a full size front colony. The larger the better, so something like a 180g would be great.

what about just a male and female. will this be a good family group. does the tankmates have to be fronts or any fish.

Male and female don't a colony make. Fronts really do need a significant group - 6 is cutting it pretty close.

Popular tankmates include Tricoti, C. moorii, and other large, fairly gentle Tangs.
