can you put a GT and some thing else in a 55 gallon tank. a fish like the buffalo cichlid or some kind of catfish.

you might get by with some type of catfish. a striped or spotted raphael may work out just fine. I wouldn't put another cichlid into that size tank with a green terror unless it was a mate. either way, a single male green terror or a mated pair will be much better off long term in a 75 gallon. they'd be fine in a 55 for about 2 years or so though. a single female green terror may be able to stay in the 55 for life. it just depends on how big she gets.

I agree with Jason, a male GT in a 55 is going to want that tank to himself, especially since he's the only fish in there and has already established dominance. A catfish would be a nice add. Raphaels are cool but at least around me they are hard to find at a size over 2" at the LFS.
