I went to the lfs in search of a male blue acara for my female (http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Cichlid%20Central/56904.html?200503231511). Three employees said this was a male acara but after getting home and the bag in the tank I really think it's a green terror.

Any opinions?

This is really frustrating...the colors of the tank make the fish look almost green/gold in pics, but looking at it in person it could actually be an acara

My female is in another tank but originally she was in this one; here's an example of how her coloring turned out in pics when she was in this tank.

Cheer up Theresa, those are white saum and they hard quite hard to find.GT is not a bad fish, compare with a blue acara I prefer GT because they are more active. I have a pair of green terrors and they are the bomb! Heck they bred quite a few times. Heres some pics of the GT family.

]"Breeding the Green Terror is somewhat difficult"

Breeding Green terror is not hard at all, My PH in the tank is 8.0, water stay moderate at 75 F and they are breeding fine. They bred at 4", I fed them Hikari cichlid pellet and an occasional blood worms. Extremely Territorial while breeding. Attack my 18" arowana all the time. The male do a kind of a dance where he just wiggle his whole body, the female tag alone and sometime chase him away. Once the female are ready to lay eggs they either find a clean flat rock or something a gravel pit. They lay about 300 hazle transparent eggs. The parent has excellent parenting, they attack the divider when any fish came near.Lastly ,the really hard part is just finding a compatible mate. I just pick out a pretty male for the female and they pair up real well.

Deffinatly not a Aq. Pulcher, looks to be a White-Edged Riv. Sp. Green Terror, as has green between the body scales, so not the true Riv. as they have Opposite body colouring, IE: green body scales, and grey in between, and a lot more rare. GT's are great fish, as long as he has enough space. I have mine with a Blue Acara, which he dominated for a while, but now are ok.
