I know rams are peacefull for chichlids, but how peaceful are they? Could they go with smaller tetras like bloodfins?
What about African Dwarf Frogs?

Mine are incredibly peaceful. I wouldn't worry about them.

Well, both species of rams (German rams and Bolivian rams) are pretty peaceful, you're right. When they do get rowdy, they usually only target each other for attacks. They shouldn't have any problems with bloodfin tetras or African dwarf frogs in an uncrowded tank. Even if they're deprived of territory, I've found that rams will almost never bother tetras. They either view them as unworthy, or don't have the guts to go barreling into an entire school.

ok, good. I was more worried about the frogs. Tetras have their schools for safety, plus they're fast. But, frogs are slow and blind(the hunt by smell). I had a betta pick on my frogs once and I didn't want a repeat. Just in case, though. I'dd add the frogs first and grow them up. Thanks

EDIT: I'm talking about blue/bolivian rams.

Blue rams are different from Bolivian rams. Blue rams are German rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi), and Bolivian rams are Mikrogeophagus altispinosa. The German rams are more common, at least in most areas of the United States.

My bad, I'm talking about German rams.
But, would this make a difference? Are bolivian and blue German, rams all the same tempermant-wise?

And could I have a pair of rams with 6-8 bloodfin tetras and a trio of frogs in a 10 gallon?

Hi DJ
I recently upped the number of Bolivian Rams in my 75 to 5 of them. They are tons of fun to watch, all squabbling with each other and being pushy shovy, then all swimming together like nothing happened 2 seconds later!
Awesome fish.
They are semi aggressive- but only with each other. I keep mine with little fish and ADF's with no problems.
If you were to go with Blue Rams for your 10g, that would be fine.
I would go for Bolivians in your 30g tank, perhaps 3-4 would be fun to watch.
Rams in general have similar temperments. The Blues are not as large or as hardy as the Bolivian rams.
Heres 2 pics of my big male Bolivian Ram for you to admire- I think you will agree, once mature, Boliv. Rams are every bit as impressive as the Blues.

I have to admit, those bolivians are the best I've ever seen....... but blues take the cake . Sorry buddy, but you should have seen them!

Funny thing you mentioned the 30 gallon. The only fish I wanted in there was the rams and the bloodfins, so if I can do the same setup in the smaller tank, I'm gona try something else in the larger. Maybe brichardi? I saw some nice ones in the city the other day. If not, I'll do rams.

But I'm glad everything looks good. The stock should look like this:

2 blue rams
8 bloodfin tetras
5 ADFs
