hi, i was just wondering downstairs when i heard the sound of a fish jumping and the clanking of glass lids so i rushed to my tank and turned on the light to my horror to see my 3-4 inch oscar floating sideways on the surface! i stood and watched it not move for a few seconds in fright then as i removed the lid he just swam away

i dont really disturb my oscars once the lights r off so i havent seen the way they sleep in months. i really hope thhat he was just sleeping and there was nothing more too it. has anyone else experienced anthing like this before? how does your oscar sleep?

My oscars will usually gather up in a corner of the aquarium and lie down on their bellies, or float around near the surface in a corner also. Usually they gather near each other.

Yeah... what inkodinko said.. thats what mine usually do as well. Some times, if they are having a restless night or want to freak me out (as thats what happens!!) I'll find one of the sleeping as you described, and instantly stick my hand in there to grab him for the quarantine tank... but he wakes up and takes off like a rocket...
