I have had 2 multi's in a tank for a while it is a 55 litre tank, how many more could i put in with them, i have 6 neon's tetra in the tank and it is planted, so can i add a friend for them or not

Hi Rhys;

Thats an interesting combination you've got in there - mixing neons and multies can be a dangerous game!

I'm not sure I would recommend any more multies into that setup, personally I'd like to see a choice made between either the planted community setup or a little multie community.

I'm presuming that due to the plants, and the multies only being a pair, the neons have survived this long!

If you do choose to add more multies - be prepared for the neons to disappear, and for the plants to be become uprooted and dislodged as the multies dig up the substrate. Have you got some shells for the multies to live in?

yeah sorry i didn't reply i had to go into hospital again. I have heaps of shells in the tank and i have no idea the sex of the multi's they are to small at the moment

multies are really hard to sex, but the females are usually about half the size of the male, we're talking a 1"fish max

Multis are pretty easy to sex if you've been keeping them for a while.
I can even sex most of my fry.
