No experience with them, but I am pretty sure they need 29 gallons and basically all you do is add a pair of fish and water and you have a whole bunch of fry.

A ceramic flower pot with the bottom knocked out is supposed to be really nice for them, too.

Agreed. Male + female + water = fry. I've heard of some instances where the fish laid eggs in the bag on the way home from the lfs (stress induced though). I had a pair spawn in as little as 2 days I believe from getting home.

They are very easy to induce to spawn. Its as simple as providing male and female, providing the difference in size between the two isn't massive. One word of warning though, sometimes the female will reject the male's advances and in a tank smaller than 24", she will have some difficulty maintaining her distance.... I lost my female through this.

If the tank is too small, the male could rough up or kill the female during courting, and once the fry are hatched the female could rough up or kill the male if he stays too close to the nest. I had my pair temporarily in a 20long (same footprint as a 29) and the male constantly had to stay at one side while the female and the fry were at the other side. if the male got too close, she chased him away. I'd recommend a 3' tank personally especially once the female reaches 3" and the male 4"

Give them some flowerpots, with or without broken bottoms. Feed them about 10% extra than what they usually eat, and they would usually spawn. I leave lights off 50% more when they start courting, since mine spawn at night.

1. Clown loaches need groups of 6 or more.
2. Clown loaches need an aquarium with over 125gallons of water.
3. Clown loaches get vary large, 18inches is very common in well kept clown loaches.
