I'm doing research for an oscar tank (90g) and am wondering what others successfully keep with their oscars. Tank size would be helpful too

and before i get told off dont worry theyre gna be moved into a bigger tank!

A pair of convicts, or firemouths.

severums, chocolate cichlids and uarus are great tankmates for oscars. they're all similar temperament and get to a decent size.

I've got a 10 inch Oscar with 2 firemouths, a gold Severum and Clown Loaches. They are in a 75 but I'm hoping to go up to a 120 in the next couple of months. I've also had a Jack Dempsy and A large Angel in with him.

I think a JD might be a tad aggressive to live with an Oscar. Mine have a Cytrocara Moorii for company, and he seems to be quite happy. I know of people keeping BN's and Clown Loaches with Oscars quite happily (as has already been posted) so they might be an option as well.

get a 280 and put 2 oscars in w/ a male Dovii, they'll be BEST friends *cough*lunch*cough*dinner*cough*

but on a more serious note, i'd suggest going w/ POSIBBLY a RT (Red Terror) or go w/ some severums, or maybe even a flowerhorn

the only one of those that would work with an oscar would be the severums. a male red terror would outgrow a 90 gallon but a female would be ok...by herself. flowerhorn would also be ok but no other fish would be allowed in the tank.

I use to have 2 oscars and a few small convicts in my 6 footer, the oscars were both about 9 inches I put it a few convicts about 1 to 1 1/2 inches long as feeders, the smallest one got eaten with in a week but the oscars just didnt seem interested in the other 2. The small of the 2 would some times charge full on at the biggest oscar and he would swim away in fear of the convict mybe the 1 he ate gave him a tummy ache

so back to the point convicts do ok I guess it just depends on the fish.

Another Oscar? Salvini or Green Terror work fine. Arowana have no problem with oscars.

I keep 2 oscars, 2 severums, large pleco, BN's, Emerald green catfish, and a mystery snail in my 90g SA tank. I cant keep any target or dither fish in the tank for more than 2 days.

My large pleco is the most aggressive fish in the tank.

i have had firemouths, convicts, jewels, and in the past when i wasnt knowlageded, i had a blue malawi and they all got on well. right now i have 2 oscars and 1 dempsey all about 3 inches. the dempsey does bully the oscars quite a bit though. depending on the aggressiveness of the oscars may i suggest a firemouth or maybe a pike. my friend has a pike cichlid and it hides a lot and never boths his oscars.
