AndyCLS![]() ![]() Fish Addict Posts: 590 Kudos: 1584 Votes: 107 Registered: 13-Mar-2003 ![]() ![]() | Here's a species profile: Iodotropheus sprengerae Sexing appears difficult (as is with most Mbuna), but do-able if they're old enough and you have someone knowledgable enough to make the distinction. EDIT: You can read this little quip from that link, but I figured I'd cross post the sexing paragraph here: Sexing: There is no color difference between the sexes; both males and females achieve a very dark purple color; however, females are less intensely marked. Males often have more egg spots and a longer anal fin as well. Males will also grow larger and faster than the females and will be more aggressive toward their own species. Rusties are considered a dwarf mbuna so size ranges from 3 to 3.5 inches. They can get larger than this, but not usually. [span class="edited"][Edited by AndyCLS 2004-09-07 12:07][/span] |
