	jewel cichlids
erock Fingerling Posts: 27 Kudos: 23 Votes: 0 Registered: 18-Dec-2004	what other fish can i put with this fish? i have a plecostomas and a jewel. thats it right now. my red zebra died. but we are getting that problem fixed. so now i am curious what other fish i can add with the jewel. thanks

Depending on their personality of course, most can go in with smaller and larger fish (not tiny fish like neons and not large agressive ones either), particularly if the Jewels are young to begin with. The other thing I've had problem with are Angels + Jewels, this seems to be a bad mix. Breeding Jewels are pretty nasty as well. All this is assuming there is enough space in the tank for them to feel comfortable

openwater Fish Addict Posts: 565 Kudos: 551 Votes: 0 Registered: 24-Jul-2004	Anything that matches it size, aggression and diet. Most purist would keep them with africans only. Slower, less aggressive cichlids do not make the best mix, example peacocks. I have found them to mix okay with some of the more aggressive lake victoria. I have found them to be very aggressive eaters and will accept almost anything.

torey.riley Fingerling Posts: 22 Kudos: 20 Votes: 1 Registered: 19-Dec-2004	i have oscars, fire mouth, convict and dempsey with a jewel. the jewel by far rules the tank right now but he is only aggressive when another fysh tries to challange him. other wise he just swims about peacefully.
