What do you mean pink/red gills? On the outside or on the inside? If its on the inside thats fine, as long as they arent pale. Pale means poor water quality they are kept in , or the fish is not in good condition. A pale pink means the fish is anemic, aka dont buy it! Not sure about if its red/pink on the outside..
