In late October my breeding pair of Kribs had about 30 fry. I still have 8 surviving babies, some of them approaching an inch in length. They are pretty independent now, and they eat flake food. They are still in the original aquarium (40 gallon) with the parents plus some glowlite tetras and 2 larger African tetras. Amazingly, the mother is still exhibiting maternal instincts and seems to protect the babies and chases the other fish away. Even the father still seems to keep an eye on the little guys. How long is this parental behavior going to last. They have spawned a 2nd time, but they ate their own eggs shortly after the eggs were attached to a rock. The largest baby is already coloring up. I want to keep one for another aquarium, and bring the rest to an lfs. Just wondering when I should do this?

Get on the phone and ask a number of lfs in your area if they will take the stock. They will tell you how big they want them.

If they are colouring up they will be of interest soon I am imagining.

All the best for your wishy-bubbas.
