I have a pair of kribs in my 30g that have been together for almost a year. They pretty much ignore each other, have never spawned, which is fine with me although it would've been nice.

Would it be ok to add another krib to this tank? And if so, should I get a M or F? The tank is well planted with lots of rocks and caves.

Do you have other fish in the tank? If you do, you don't want a spawning pair of Kribs and I would not add another.

If the Kribs are the only fish in there and you want a breeding pair add another and see what happens though you may, probably will, have to remove the odd one when they do spawn.

Are you sure you have a male and a female? The male's dorsal and anal fins trail back to points that are even with the tip of the tail. The females fins are shorter and she will get a deep purple belly.

Good luck, Mike

Theresa:

This won't answer your question, but I have to say: Wow! What a beautiful picture! How did you get such a clear photo?

Lovely pic, yeah, definately 2 females! You would be ok then to add a male as he wil be entering the females territory and so should not be so aggressive!
If a pair form then however, the other female wil be extradited!

Thanks for the comments on the pictures, it was really just a lucky shot.

So I have two females...would it be ok to add another female?

edit: I guess that explains the lack of spawning

Yeah, you could go for another female. They only get really aggressive when they have fry.

Good luck, Mike

Yes, you definitely have 2 females. Adding a male would depend on how big your tank is. Both of them will definitely try and pair with the male you will be adding and this is when the competition starts. If the tank is big enough, then the "loser" will need some place to run to. Then again, the male might try and pair with both of them and so long as the females breed on opposite end sof the tank, it should be okay. Lovely fish you got there!
