I have an electric yellow cichlid that seems to be lazy. He rests on a fake plant in my aquarium and just sits there all day. He is alive and occasionally swims around. It wont even go after a piece of food that floats by its face. Is this normal of my fish? Does anyone know why he is oing this? All the other fish in the tank seem to be doing great. any help or advice would be great. thanks.

He definitely doesn't sound just lazy. Most fish that rest with the excemption of few are injuried and/or diseased. Electric yellows should be fairly active at all times. When he start doing this? What are your water parameteres and quality? Does he appear to be breathing rapidly or suffering from gill problems, bloat, etc?

he has been doing this since yesterday, and i have had him for about 4 days now, the water parameters are all fine, he does seem to be breathing harder. He had no bloating, or any physical problems other then her breathing. She does look a little thin, but she hasnt eaten since i have had her. The water quality seems to be really good, there is plenty of surface aggitation so i know he is getting oxygen in the water, I am just puzzled.

When she isnt resting on a plant, she seems to tread water and stay in ony place. She seems to wobble slightly from side to side when she does this

It almost sounds as if he may have osmotic shock. You may want to consider doing a slight water change.

SOrry for your loss, but see if you can take the fish back. Sometimes you get a weak fish and the stress of the move is enough to kill it. It could be that fish just came into the lfs a day or two before you bought and the two moves were to much.
