I have a fairly large marble angel, he was part a group of 3. I got more than two since My odds were better I would get a breeding pair. Well, 2 of the 3 paired off and once they began laying eggs, they beat up the third wheel to the point he was almost dead. This happened nearly over night. I have since moved him to a 20gal by himself. He has recovered, even though I thought he would not, and I have tried to introduce other angels to his tank to keep him company but they either get sick or he wont tolerate their presence. Is an angel all by himself going to be lonely>? I cant seem to find him a good match and do not want to sacrifice the lives of more fish for no good reason. Any comments or experiences with happily kept single angels?

Angels do not have to be kept in schools or schoals to be happy. I don't think there will be a problem with not matching it up with a mate or good buddy. Just make it a centerpiece fish in your tank.

IMO it's better to leave him on it's own, because as you said, nothing survives with him & i don't want you to lose more fish.
I don't think that Angels get lonely & i know aot of people that only have 1 Angel in their tank.

Ok, thats a relief. I am always concerned about fish getting lonely or feeling the need to breed. Now, I guess I will have to decide what other kinda of fish I will put with him... Hmmm..
