Yes you can mix them, need a big tank though cause cons like there space and will beat up an oscar of any size if it invades.

a pair of cons would not be a good idea with oscars, the oscars timid nature would not be a good senario with the aggressive behavior of a breeding pair of cons, they would terrorize the oscar to death no matter the size of it. A single convict or a sexed set of males or females should be no problem if the tank meets the size requirments.

good luck

Joe

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

Oscars are not timid per se, it really depends on the Oscar (kind of like bettas agressiveness). Still like stated above (hate too repeat >.< ) a pair of convicts will not do good with an oscar. Someone will be mauled and I'm taking bets it'll be the oscar.

If it is a large tank why not try some smaller (not small small) and less agressive cichlids? Maybe a Severum?
