i have a 55 usg tank with 6 (4-5 inch) african cichlids and 1 (5-6 inch) pleco what would be the outcome of putting a 1.5 inch african bumblebee cichlid in the tank with the 4-5 inch ones with they bother it and kill it or will they leave it be

I wouldn't add any more fish. As the pleco (and maybe the cichlids, depending on what kind) grows larger, it will really tax the bioload. Common plecos reach about eighteen inches anyways, so you should start thinking about moving that fish.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

and even if you did add the smaller cichlid, chances are, it won't last very long.

Hi and first of all can you list the species in the tank and description of the tank decorations.
Second I disagree with books on the pleco. AS long as your water quality is good and your happy with the job that pleco is doing keep it. I wouldn't reccommdend buying one for that tank, but since you have it, keep it.
Now since there are six established cichlid and they all have territories it will be hard to introduce new fish in, but definitely not impossible. In a 55g you could get away with more than 6 4-5-6 inch cichlid. however there is a fine line between overstocking to keep down aggression and just plain overstocking. There are several methods to introduce new fish and ways to help out new smaller fish like the bumblebee survive.
Like what I said above we need to know what species in the tank already.
