I have lots of plats, driftwood and rocks in my 29 standard. All I have in the tank is one electic yellow, hes has grown to become quite large. Anyway today he was working hard inside one of my rock/wood caves. All day I heard rocks hitting the glass. So tonight I looked in and there was a huge pile of gravel outside the cave, and he had dug to almost the bottom of the tank. Does this meen he wants to breed? I know its a male. Thanks for the help

I don't think this behaviour has much to do with breeding, but it's certainly common among mbuna. They like to rearrange the furniture!

haha, my electric yellow does the same thing. After I clean the gravel he gets right to it.

Everytime my male has dug out a big hole then they breed. But when I say big I mean a quarter of the tank is cover in sand and the other one other quarter is right down to the glass.
