You should definitely get a bigger tank for these fish now, whether they fit in it or not! Also, I'm pretty sure that cichlids don't eat their veggies, it is mostly catfish that do this.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

if you plan on moving them to a different tank you should be fine for a month depending on the size of the fish. Make sure and I can't emphasize this enough that you do water changes every day or at the minimum every other day. On a side note what size tank or tanks to you plan on putting these fish in. The frozen vegetable that you have heard of are peas. Generally, it is a good idea to thaw them before you feed it to them.

P.S. Just out of curiosity what are the sizes of the fish.

What size tank are you planning to get? Reccomended is a 100 gallon + with some very good filtration.

The 10 gallon will probably last a month, if they fish are 1 inch or under. By then, all the fish would have grown an inch.

Frequent water changes are really needed right now, probably once every two - three days at about 25%.

Add a nice filter for the time being also.
