ok let me just say i dont wanna hear rants. if you think its a bad idea fine but dont rip me apart about it.
75g tank with 5 yellow labs, 1 socolofi, 1 pleco.
ok here is where i stray from the normal. i was thinking of a pair of kribs and a pair of Juli (Julidochromis transcriptus) to get some breeding going on. maybe some other cichlids swimming around. what are the thought on this? good or bad just dont rant

the labs are more of a vegatarian omnivore. the lab could get bloat if they eat the same food as the scolofi is supposed to eat.

hmm those guys are fine together as far as i know i was more worried about the kribs and juli. the yellows are the exception to the rule cuz the get alot of fat and protiene from the critters they snatch up while eating algae. this is what ive ready anyway.

I don't think that too many people want to respond to this in a positive way because they think they'll be flamed...

Anyways, they all have similar water conditions, and they are all feisty(but not too feisty). You have a big tank, just add a lot of hiding spots. Most would say no, but I say try it and take something back if it doesn't work out. I hope that wasn't a rant.

Just vary the diet and your present fish will be fine.

As for the additions, I would recomend the julies. These will do just fine with your other fish, and may even breed. And they have the same water requirements. The kribs however, will probably not fare well, and most likely will not breed. The larger fish are more active and will keep the kribs within the lower water column. The Kribs will shy down on the lower part of your tank. They will most likely not get a healthy diet, and slowly wither away. And, though most you see in the pet stores are aquarium bred fish, from different water environments, their natural habitat is softer water. These fish are west africans, and not rift lake cichlids like all the others mentioned.

Thanks for the replies guys, knew it was a risk to even ask. was worth a try. this idea has been shelved, not fair to the kribs to experiement the idea. it was just me trying to get the cake and eat it to lol. think im gona switch the yellows to a 29g, give the socolofi away, and stock my 75g with some apistogrammer, and put some kribs in there should be more at home with this combination and i still get to have my colors ( cake and eat it to i win ! )
