it could work, my uncle had a pair of flower horns in with serveuns and (a real shocker) rainbow fish.

they were ok, once and awhile a nip or too, but when they grow up they may turn out to be aggressive,

i can't figure it out, my uncle had tose in there for a long time, but then the flower horns just got too aggressive.

The list you'd suggested would be fine. Just make sure you keep up with water changes with good filtration. You might want a nice school of dither fish. Large Rainbowfish are frequently used as dither fish now, especially in african tanks. Theres always the bread and butter dithers such as giant danios and silver dollars of course.

Your 125 is alot of room, I'd worry more about water changes if you have that stock list.

i am kind of applying the african cichlid approach to this by adding the convict and mabey even the jd to cut down the aggresion of the gt to the oscar.

other thoughts are 2 oscars 1 gt

i really like the oscar but want something that just blows your mind in coloration. i like the look of some flowerhorns but hear they are to aggro when they get bigger and i like the red texas but that is exspensive for a fish i can not be positive will actually have the coloration it was told to have. i have however seen some very nice gt that i think have great coloration. next question is where do i find a very nice strain of a gt.

Some gymogeophagus and geophagus have some really nice colorations, and are relatively really peaceful cichlids. They might be a bit hard to find though.

i would NOT TRY THEM TOGETHER,ive had a flowerhorn for about 7 months now, a 6 inch aggresive female in a tank by herself,in her tank ive tryed a large male convict, she ripped chunks off him in minutes(she has 6 teeth),a smaller red devil she didnt rip him up but she wouldnt let him out of the corner of the tank and wouldnt stop chasing him around, after that i tryed a texas with no luck again,so next i tryed moving her to my comunity chiclid tank where my huge two tiger oscars are the bosses,it took her about 2 minutes of checken things out before she took a chunk out of one of my tiger ocars head, and and chunk from the annal fin of my albino oscar,so after that i gave up,i just faced the fact that she wants to be on her own.if you do try them together keep a very close watch, becasue the damage can be bad and only take minutes.

seems like there are no good tank mates for oscars. other fish beat them up or vice versa and more oscars just fight with eachother. mabey a severum.
