Why are you feeding him too much?. Fish will die if overfed.

he didn't say he was definitely feeding the oscar too much, he asked if that might be what's causing the problem.

justin, how big is the oscar? I'm wondering if your oscar might be a female and what you're seeing might be the ovipositor. if the oscar is around the 6-7" mark then that might just be what you're seeing.

just in case that's not it though, how often and how much do you feed the oscar? also, how often do you do water changes and how much at a time?

if you can answer these questions it will help to get a better idea what might be going on.

how many times should i feed them?

I've given up on feeding mine by a strict regular pattern. Mostly I give breakfast/brunch and dinner, but only when he actually acts hungry.

my oscars are only about 4 inches and i have a tiger also and he is very active everytime he sees me and the other one stoped doing that ever since i noticed that wight stuff around his anal.

but the thing i see looks more like flesh like sometimes theres like little peices hanging, hes not doing to well like he does't eat as much either.

now i feed them twice a day and do water changed every two weeks.

i have good filteration more then 800 gallons per hour.

i know this is bad but i have em in a 60 gallon

thanx for helping
