it seems like every other person thinks differently about red devils and midas' cichlids. ive read that the midas cichlid is peaceful and the red devil is mean.

are they the same cichlid?

first thing to sort out... no they are not the same fish. they are two fish from the same genus but are not of the same species. they are both quite aggressive cichlids two of the bader boys of the cichlid world that dont get along with there own kind and tend to kill anything else that cant hold their own. however i have keep them with larger equally aggressive fish such as jags, synspilums, blackbelts, beanii, and the slightly smaller but probly more aggressive salvini.

They also get rather large, and require a larger tank of 40 gallons plus. And bigger if you want to try to keep tank mates with them.
