I'm planning a 150 Gallon tank. Could I have Salvinis in with some smaller cichlid (5", some rainbows, and clown loaches? I will have some grassy-like live plants on the bottom, and some kind of slate formation.
Salvinis
Thanks for any help

I don't suggest salvini with rainbows, unless you want the rainbows to get eaten. Why not go with Blue Acaras? What 'other smaller' cichlids were youthinking of?

I was thinking of Bolivian Rams and Electric Yellows.

i wouldn't suggest the rams. salvini are really a whole level of aggression up from acaras and firemouths. they'd kill the rams very soon, even in a tank that big.
you could have firemouths, acaras, geophagus in there, but only if you keep the stocking low.
i do think a big school of larger rainbows might work as dither fish, because they're fast and they stick to the upper levels of the tank. but bear in mind that salvini are very territorial, and if you have many other fish in with them, however big the tank, they will attack.

when you say "rainbows" i assume you are talking about rainbow cichlids (hetrotilapia multispinosa or sumtin along that line). i have got a pair at around 15cm and they get beaten up by 5cm kribensis. but from my experiences with salvinis they are also "scaredy cats"

I'm not going to do Salvini now. It seems that they would cause to much trouble with my stocking list. Thanks for the advice!!

CASE CLOSES
I've always wanted to say that
