Hi Folks

Managed to aquire a severum f.o.c. for my community tank - a lovely fish of about 8 cm long (peach in colour)

Is there any internet sites which show the difference between the sexes as I would love to find it a mate?

Would buying a mate upset my peaceful tank?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Dave

you're best bet to getting a pair would be to get a small group of juveniles and let a pair form naturally. your severum should still be small enough that if you bought a few more of similar size that a pair could easily form. now, if a pair were to form and they began to breed, then yes they could cause problems in a community setup. what is the tank size and what other fish are in the tank?

Jason is dead on. As usual..

As sevs are cichlids they can become very aggressive when mating, and do not belong in a community tank.

Also, even if you could determine the sex of them, you still can not be sure you will get a pair. It's bes to start out with a few (at least 6) juveniles and allow a pair to form. *hides all the juvie blue rams in his tank*
