I would say 75 gallon for a full grown Severum. They get about 9 inches or more. I had a Gold Severum that was 5 inches in a 55 community. He was a very cool fish and didnt bother anyone.

I agree with 75 gallons. Some will argue that 55 is ok for them, but if you've seen a full grown (8"+) severum you'd see why 75 would be much better for them.

Also, Fish1, bichirs and severums would actually make great tankmates. Neither are particularly aggressive, and the round shape of severums would make them very difficult for bichirs to try and eat.

I want a big tank too Fish1....I have a Malawi Eyebiter who is gonna be very large one day...right now she is fine where she is.

I had tiny keyholes with my severum and he didnt bother them at all. Sometimes they would swim right under him and he wouldnt care, other times, he would just move slowly towards them, he never really chased anyone in the tank.

I say 55. They get just around 8 inches. I went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore today and saw full grown Severums that could fit ina 55 gallon tank comfotably. I currently have a Gold Severum in my 55 gallon tank, of course he is only a baby and is only about 2-3 inches long. I think a 55 would be fine

I'd say 55 or 60 but they would be much happier in a larger tank, the larger the better.Sverums are cool.

A 55 gallon is 12 inches wide and a Severum grows 8 inches. That's 4 inches clearance when it turns around...and that's if it turns completely around without bending its body. IMO/E 55 gallons is enough for a Severum, it has the gallonage AND the width required to house these fish I feed mine Frozen Brine shrimp, BTW, and he has grown about an inch in about a month
