How do you sex shelldwellers when they are juvies?? I read how in the multi profile, but that for adults. I ask since I read that the ration should be 1m/3-4f. THankss

For Multis it's purely on size. In fish of the same age, there should be a big difference in size between the males and females (males are bigger).

In other species the size thing usually applies but there are other signs as well - for example, gold ocellatus females often have white-tipped dorsals, female brevis have less distinct barring on the tail, etc.

With multis, if they grew up together, they usually do fine together. If you have too many males, one may split off to form another colony across the tank from the original group...when they're small, they're darn near impossible to sex.
