A neighbor of ours in the same apartment complex has 2 koi angels in a 17 gallon. Everything he puts into the tank with them they kill. I had been considering getting angels for quite some time anyways, but I was concerned about their aggressiveness. I assume it's probably because they are in such a small tank, but I don't want to take chances with my fish. What do you guys think? Would they be okay in my tank or would they go on a massive killing spree.
Oh yah, my tank is a 55 gallon.
TIA
Jen

I don't have the 17 gallon, my neighbor does. He's tried to put rosy barbs, a pleco, guoramis (sp), and cories with them and they have killed everything. They are the only 2 fish left in his tank.
I have the 55 gallon and right now it contains 9 harlequin rasboras, 2 dojo loaches, a horseface loach, and 3 zebra loaches.
His angels aren't very big yet, probably about the size of a half dollar.

In a 55, if nothing else, the other fish will have alot more room to run.

I'd give it a try if you like the looks of the Angels. Just have him leave his tank set up for a day or two so you can net them and take them back if they get nasty.

I really think they'd settle down in the bigger tank.

Yes, i would take them & for sure, they'll have more space to swim in your tank. Do you know if they're a pair?.

I don't know if they are a pair of not.
Thanks for all the help everyone. I convinced him that instead of me taking his angelfish, he could just get a 29 gallon for them and use his 17 gallon for some smaller fish. I was a little leery about taking them and it turned out that he really wanted to keep his angels, so this way works out for both of us and the fish.
Thanks again for all your advice.
