It's doing quite well, approximately 2" now, definitely stays in the bottom portion of the tank, eats anything, doesn't bother plants, and I've seen no agression from it whatsoever towards the other fish. Finally not afraid of the camera either ![]() I still have no idea what it is. I thought I'd post this info and some pictures taken today to see if anyone can figure this out ![]() ![]() With keyhole: ![]() ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

It is looking more and more like the Herichthys sp. 'Rio Salto' that I have. I posted a pic in the original thread. This isn't a dempsey. ![]() ![]() |

It's a reputable store and I only asked about potential size and temperament (was told ~4-5" and non-agressive) ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

I know he ships to many lfs all over the country and in fact he has a list on his website of lfs' that frequently order from him. I'm really leaning towards the Rio Salto. Mine, when seen in very high lighting (such as from flash) show a light orangish body coloration and they're starting to develop a blue/green spangling though nothing close to the spangling of a texas or carpintis. ![]() |

It would be nice if they had them labelled properly, although this is the first time I'd not seen a species name on a tank there. I'm thinking about emailing him a couple pics to see what he thinks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

'Rio Salto'. They will grow to approx. 6-7" and I can't speak on temperament yet. Rusty Wessel (who supplied these fish to Jeff) told me they were not overly aggressive I believe. ![]() |
