The only one I can think of are festivum. Nice fish but not always easy to find.

What's your water like?

Apart from festivums as Therese mentioned, Tanganyikan cyprichromis would fit your bill perfectly, but they need at least 7.8 (preferrably in the 8s) for pH and the harder the water the better.

Does it have to be a cichlid? Because there are many other options for your tank that are probably more active and less shy, but are not cichlids.

it does not have to be a cichlid (although i would prefer it) as long as it not guppies, mollies or swordtails. or anything to active i like cool calm and collective fish so barbs are out of the question (i hope i'm not being a fussy bloody australian) but any thing else and i'm open for suggestions.

thanks for listing.

i wouldnt add any african ciuchlids to that tank. they wont work out too well for a large list of reasons.

what about rainbows? there are so many awesome rainbows, there has to be one you would love. i like the boesmani, myself!

boesmani is a very nice fish. I have two of them schooling with 4 Giant danios in my 55 Gal. with a list of other fish including Convicts. I wish I would have found out about them earlier. I would have all rainbows and no danios because their color is so much prettier!!
