I have a tank(36g) which has been set up and is running beautifully. Tank has 2 rainbow danios, 3 headlight tetras, 2 swordtails, 2 tiny sharks, and two columbian red and blues in it. They all seem fine, colorful, active and happy, but two days after adding the red and blues, one is missing his tail fin completely. when i got him, he had a bit missing...now overnight completely gone? do I have a tail biter in the tank....is it more likely to be the tetras? thanks for any replies or ideas...no evidence of problems, sickness or anything else with any other fish.

Your problem may actually lie with the danios. These guys are schooling fish ( you need at 6 in your tank) and if theirs not enough of their own to school they may pick at other fish trying to get them to school with them. My guess is this is probably what happened.

Yeah, I had 8 in my 90 gallon and they killed one of my other zebras and bit off the tails of my cardinal tetras. I removed the tetras....

Will the tail grow back do you think, or do I need medicine?

You need to add some melafix to the tank. As it helps to heal any open wounds and also helps to promote the regrowth of damaged fins. It would probably be in its best interest if you qt it.
