 | tank mates for rams |
jase101  Big Fish Posts: 345 Kudos: 273 Votes: 1 Registered: 06-Jul-2004   | been doing a lot of reading on keeping blue rams - i keep rummies, pencilfish, royal whiptails and sterbai cories, i know those are fine, though the cories may irritate the rams if breeding, but i also have a school of 9 black phantoms, and i'm wondering if anyone can see a problem with them and the rams? it's a six-foot tank, 80 g, heavily planted, driftwood, etc, and i'm planning on introducing just one pair of rams. any thoughts appreciated. thanks! |

Yes black skirts can be nippy, but rams have an ever so slight edge to them and will head butt any black skirt that tries to bother them  In case you need the info and wanted to pick the sex of your rams, males have extended rays on their dorsal fin behind their head and females have a pinkish belly. Yes the Black Phantoms are fin nippers, but the Ramirezi wouldn't get hurt, as they will fight back.
