I wouldn't. I put 2 texas in a 75g temporarily with a divider and they went at it through the divider.

Also, a fifty-five gallon would be too small for a Texas cichlid. They can almost reach a foot in length, and are pretty messy fish. Only fifty-five gallons of water won't be suitable to contain such a fish.

if you want something texas cichlid-ish that will fit in a 55 you should check out Herichthys sp. 'Rio Salto'. they're in the same family but only grow to around 7".

Yea i have two texas in a 75 and they chase eachother all the time, but from my experience the parrot is a nasty fish too.
