Checkerboard cichlids are also small and peaceful, as are keyholes. The largest any of these gets to is maybe four inches, and they are almost always peaceful towards other fish. Of course, this doesn't always hold true during breeding time, and fish have their own personalities. There are certainly intolerant ram cichlids out there, that attack tankmates. For the most part though, the fish listed above are peaceful. |

I'd stick with rams. Unless you want brevis. Or the second smallest chichlid: neo. multi. You could easily do a multi tank in a 10 gallon, or a brevis pair in a 5. But neither of these are "community" fish because they have very different water conditions that most fish (rift lake). |
