This may seem like a really silly question, but When keeping angelfish, does it matter if they are different colors..i.e. marble, koi, black, etc.? I didn't know if they were like cories where they liked their own kind or if angelfish were primarily the same species and didn't care what color they were.
Thanks

Not a bad question at all! Cories need to be kept with the same species because schooling is visual - since Angels aren't really schooling fish, they don't need that. However, just as cories are grouped best by species, so are Angels - P. scalare (99.999% of angels in stores, and all of the ones you mentioned - veils, smokeys, etc) shouldn't be kept with P. altum (a recent addition to the genus) or P. leopoldi, for example. However, don't worry - all the fish you'll see in any stores listed simply as angels (and not "ALTUM ANGELS! $20 each!" or the like ) can be housed together - given sufficient room, of course!

As far as I can tell they don't care one way or the other. In a Tank full of Angels a Marble and a Gold are just a likely to pair up as 2 Golds or 2 Marbles.

All Angelfish are the same species, except for Altum Angels, which are a different species and also grow somewhat bigger. The color variations will all mate with each other and in fact some interesting alternate variations are created this way (i.e. Koi angelfish).

EDIT: And P. Leopoldi, which I forgot about but LittleMousling didn't.
