i have heard it stated that the tiger barbs tend to nip the fins of the angels but everything i have read about the tiger barbs says they only nip fins when in small numbers and if you have 8-10 than they will stick to themselves.

what do you guys think

well .... angelfish's fins are to scrumscous for tiger barbs to resist so i would say they would still nip the fins of the angelfish

tiger barbs are fin nippers, no matter what size the school they are in. The only way I have heard of TBs not nipping angels is adding a young school of tigers to a tank with full grown angels. The angels will teach the TBs to stay away and as the TBs grow, they will leave the angels alone. I haven't tried this so I'm not sure if it works.

As far as I know, angelfish fins are filet minion to TBs.

The barbs will nip regardless of the size of shoal. The nipping of other fishes fins can be reduced due to the fact that the barbs spend most of their time 'finding their own pecking order' and therefore 'leave' the other fish alone. This, however, is obviously not something that can be guaranteed and long finned fish (such as angels) invariably are always a prime target for such other fish.

Don't stick them together...angels the next day will have nipped fins torn and perhapes injured/bleeding fins. Tiger Bards show no mercy on any long finned fish.

I don't recomend Tiger Barbs with Angels. They are fin nippers & Angels have long fins. You'll find them with torn fins in a few days.

I must admit, my Tiger Barbs leave my Angel well alone. Dunno, maybe they have come to some sort of agreement........
