1) long fin oscars, i am not looking for them, but i want to know are they rare? i know one person with an albino long fin, but thats the only i have seen b4, and at my lfs where they have lots of oscars, i never see and long fin.

2)peacock bass, first are they considered a cichlid? and what would be the tank size, maybe in a pond about 2000 gallons? i saw some big ones on a fishing trip to S.A and Wow.

1) probably depends on where you're from. I've seen less than a handful of long-finned oscars in all the lfs I've been to so around here I'd say they're fairly rare. personally that's fine with me because I really don't care for them.

2) yes, Peacock bass (all species in the Cichla genus) are cichlids. the more commonly available species grow to around 2 feet long but there are larger growing species like C. temensis which grows to 3 feet or larger. I would personally consider no less than a tank or pond at least 8' x 3' as a minimum even for the smaller species.

I've seen a ton of long-finned oscars here (California). One of my local fish stores -always- has long-finned reds, tigers, and albinos.
Not very attractive fish, in my opinon, and the whole idea just doesn't make sense to me. They seem to be pretty popular with teen girls around here, though - long, flowy fins on a big, aggressive fish.. *shrug*
