I'd say the smallest tank you should shoot for would be a 125 gallon...72" x 18" x 22".

I agree - I'm sorry but they grow really fast - My two oscars were about 3 inches long each when I got them about a month ago & are now 5 inches each. I've been told they'll be 10-12 inches by christmas.

Luckily I do have a 125g tank for them, my firemouth, 2 gold severums & lobster.

Anita.

If your wanting to add Jags in to the tank with the oscars, J.Dempseys, and Firemouths I wouldn't. I breed jags and even while not spawning these fish are some of the most aggressive their are of the New World Cichids. They will kill everything they perceive as a threat. I do mean everything... If you want Jags you'll have to devote at least a 125 to them. If you get a pair you better have one tough pleco to stay in there with them because even they are susceptible to the onslaught of a mating Jag. Dempsey's are also not a good mix with the Thoricyth's species (firemouths). Firemouths are not extremely aggressive and will definatly be outsized and most likely chased if not killed by the J.D.'s. Even the oscars are potentially in trouble being housed with J.D.'s. Every fish is different and your chances are better because you are starting them off young. However, take my advice on one thing do not add jags to the mix.
